Nicely Put!! Health should always come first. I went to a wake of a very young mother. She was probably in her 40's-50's. Sad but I really don't want to die that young. I am doing everything to get healthy and in shape.

Thanks for putting it in perspective. Ben worked out today with me!!!

OMG mr horton you talked for close to 5 minutes it's gotta be a record! LOVE IT!! Missed chat as my son's baseball schedule is usually tues thurs but for your chat weeks (uugh!!) falls on mondays. Funny you should bring this topic up. I recently developed a friendship with a new guy that is very much younger than me and really incredibly shallow in a cute dorky funny guy kinda way. I have been a little more self conscious about my age and the cosmetics of my body (or the lack thereof). Purpose is quite a leap when you are filtering your view through an after hours LA party animal!! It's all good though especially when you have Tony Horton as a fitness guru to get your thinking in order!! It's back to counting workout days and constant vigilance about what I put in my mouth. Congrats on the 17k and give scotty a big hug for me!

Tony,

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Well said. Looking Good, having a 6 pack, etc. should be looked at as a BONUS to the activity and healthy eating regimen. Not the main purpose for doing so.

See you for some Yoga tomorrow in my Family room!!! (hee hee)

I have to admit it, I'm a "bling" kinda gal. But when people see my "bling", I don't want them to ask where did you get you work done? I want them to ask what kind of work do you do? I want people to see my bling and know that there is a lot of "bam" behind it. If it's not worth working for, it's not worth having. Ruth

Wow, Tony, you got all philosophical on us, and I loved it!!!! :)

And Traci, I was thinking the same thing! Well, almost...

Do not let your adornment (translation: "body bling")be merely outward--arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on of fine apparel--rather, let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit...

Thanks, Tony, for taking us beyond the "bling" to the heart that lies underneath all you work toward.

Can't wait to meet you at NY camp, my friend!

Ahhhh. Just what I needed to hear today, day 40 of my first round of P90. I was starting to get a little bummed out that the pounds aren't just flying off, but I started thinking, ok, I'm eating sooooooo good, whole grains, lean meats, veggies & fruits, and MOVING MY BODY EVERYDAY!! I know my body is changing at its own rate, but how awesome are the changes that are happening inside!!?!?!?! I KNOW that if I keep this up, I will NOT have to deal with the medical issues that many of my family members have, ie: diabetes, high cholesterol, high b.p., etc. Anyway, what you said, just re-inforced the conclusion that I came to just the other day. I am doing this for me, and my health, and my insides!!! Not for a popularity contest!!! THANK YOU!! I love this place and I'm NOT LEAVIN!!!! :) hugs, Katie

HI Tony,

Don't even know if you really check out our responses to your blog, but I HAD to tell you this story! (and it has nothing to do with Body Bling!)

I lent my extra Kenpo X and Cardio X dvds to my 6yo daughter's Tae Kwon Do teacher. Well, Kenpo was a cinch for him, but he was FEELIN' Cardio the next day. He was so pumped, he did it twice last week! He's in love with the X and wants to order it.

The icing on the cake, however, was watching him warm up a class of his TKD students last Saturday. What were they doing? Why, "Superman/Banana" thank you very much!! He goes slow at first, like you, then speeds up until he's manic! The kids loved it!! He even has them doing the "Banana Split!" where they are on their backs, in Banana form, then they move their legs apart.

The best part? The kids think it's FUN to be Superman!! Then, they think it's GREAT to be a banana! Finally, they just giggle and LOVE doing the Banana Split!! And when it all speeds up, they are working their hardest to keep up with their instructor!

All that to tell you, yet again, THANKS for making this whole exercise thing FUN! (for all ages!)

Cheers to you, friend,

Hi Tony,
Well said.I'm constantly fighting my bling-me and my health-me. Everytime my bling-me wins I am discouraged about not seeing results. My health-me nevers stops because youjust know that tomove a little is better then not to move at all. With or without results you can see.
Thanks for the booster words. I'm starting again with my p90 today.

I simply loved your last post. Body bling is totally out of my mind entirely. Being my first week on Power 90, I realize that being healthy is more important that trying to fit in a size 6 jeans and showing it off. (Though that would be nice!) :) But it hits harder with me because I am pre-diabetic. My doctor told me that I had better get a good diet and exercise regimine going or I would be shooting insulin and pricking my fingers in no time. I must say that I could find no exercise course better than yours. I also have commitment problems, and I have found with a little determination, I can do anything I can set my mind to. So I say, Thank You Tony Horton, you have made a differance in my life for years to come! If I can get through the first week of Power 90, I can go all the way! (You also make me laugh during the routines...especially when you say...I'll mime a chair... :))
Anyway, thank you again...oh, the blogs and audio posts are great, keep those words of encouragement coming!

Have a great day, I will because it is my first rest day!!!

Cousin Lisa!

How cool are you to join in on all the fun. This Beachbody community is filled with support, encouragement and great information, without that culty feeling. Congratulations on your revised commitment to yourself. I can't express just how happy that makes me. Keep me/us posted.

Love, cousin T J

PS Are you going to your sister's annual summer party?

Tony, thanks for the reminder. I'm a 48-year-old who's getting in GREAT shape through P90X, but I will probably never have the body I "want" because, well, that's just not what the Good Lord intended. I'll probably always be a little more jiggly in places than I want to be. But I'm going to feel and be terrific for my kids.

I've even thought about plastic surgery now and then, but that would be robbing from my kids' college accounts. And one of my little boys has a big scar on his chest from open heart surgery as well as a big hemangioma on his hip, while the other has a scar under his arm from esophageal surgery. They're getting old enough now that other kids have commented on them. What kind of message am I sending to them if I'm not comfortable in my OWN skin? I don't want them to feel embarrassed about themselves.

I'm going to do my best and forget the rest, like you've said. Thanks for a timely reminder.
