Chat Room Throw Down

Kids,

Turns out I went off in chat last Monday night and a dear friend sent me the transcript from my rant. As I read it over I realize now that I could have been a tad kinder, but the bulk of the message is still important for people to understand. I did some editing but left most of it in intact. I'd love to hear your comments.

TH-

ALRIGHT, SIT BACK, AND RELAX.
LET'S GO OVER A COUPLE OF THINGS.
THERE SEEMS TO BE A GENERAL LACK OF WILLPOWER,
AND THERE ALSO SEEMS TO BE, LIKE CANI SAID, POOR PLANNING.
SHOWING UP TO A PARTY HUNGRY, NEVER A GOOD IDEA, YOU'RE SCREWED.
NOW I COULD SIT HERE AND I COULD TELL YOU LITTLE TIPS ABOUT HOW TO HELP YOU CONTROL YOUR EATING HABITS,
IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF YOUR FOOD, AND I DO IT WEEK AFTER WEEK, MONTH AFTER MONTH,YEAR AFTER YEAR
AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE SAME PEOPLE (I KNOW WHO YOU ARE - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE) CONTINUE TO JUST LET FOOD WIN.
AM I CORRECT?
I MEAN, YOU DO THE PROGRAMS, AND YOU COME INTO THE CHAT ROOMS AND YOU GO INTO MESSAGE BOARDS
AND YOU'RE PART OF THE COMMUNITY AND YOU HAVE BEEN FOR YEARS, AND YOU LOSE SOME WEIGHT, AND GAIN IT BACK
THEN YOU LOSE SOME MORE, AND GAIN BACK MORE, AND IT'S JUST A CYCLE THAT CONTINUES.
SOMETIMES YOU TAKE IT SERIOUSLY, SOMETIMES YOU DON'T.
BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!
SAD, BORING AND PATHETIC, REALLY...
YOU BLAME IT ON YOUR PARENTS AND YOU BLAME IT ON WORK
AND YOU BLAME IT ON STRESS
AND YOU BLAME IT ON POOR PLANNING,
OR ON THE WEATHER OR LACK OF SLEEP
AND YOU SORT OF TAKE THE BLAME, BUT NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE ANY CHANGES.
I MEAN, IF IT DOESN'T MATTER
CUZ APPARENTLY IT DOESN'T
CUZ IF IT DID
THIS WOULD NO LONGER BE A PROBLEM FOR MOST OF YOU.
BUT THE SAD FACT OF THE MATTER IS, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO!
IT'S NOT LIKE THIS COMPANY IS SELLING YOU SOME SILLY WEIGHT LOSS DIET PROGRAM THAT IS ASKING YOU TO EAT FUNKY PORTIONS OF STUPID FOOD FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.
YOU HAVE TEMPTATIONS AND YOU SUCCUMB TO THEM. PERIOD.
NOW MY JOB TONIGHT IS NOT TO SIT HERE AND POINT FINGERS AND CALL YOU NAMES, AND SAY THAT YOU ARE LOSERS.
BUT IT'S TIME FOR A LITTLE TOUGH LOVE PEOPLE.
AS SOME OF YOU KNOW, I'M 50 AND LIFE IS EXTRAORDINARILY SHORT.
I FEEL LIKE I'VE LIVED 10 LIVES ALREADY AND AS WE ALL GET OLDER, IT DOESN'T GET ANY EASIER, UNLESS WE DO THE RIGHT THING.
SUCCUMBING TO TEMPTATION BASED ON OUTSIDE INFLUENCES AND INFLUENCES INSIDE OUR HEADS
JUST MAKES LIFE SUCH A DULL BORING FRUSTRATING DRAG.
ICK!
IS THIS WHAT WE WANT?
IS THIS GOOD ENOUGH?
IS IT?
BUT WHAT THE HELL YOU GONNA DO ABOUT IT?
BECAUSE CHANGE IS A BITCH MAN.
BUT IF YOU WANT THE LIFE THAT I THINK YOU THINK YOU DESERVE, THEN YOU HAVE TO DO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
CUZ I GOTTA SAY, WHEN I SHOW UP TO EVENTS (TEAM BEACHBODY EVENTS OR CAMPS) AND I SEE PEOPLE WHO USED TO BE FIT WHO AREN'T, I JUST THINK, WHAT HAPPENED?
AND I KNOW THE ECONOMY IS ROUGH AND THINGS HAPPEN IN LIFE THAT ARE BRUTAL, BUT SINCE WHEN DOES FOOD SOLVE ANY OF OUR PROBLEMS?
IT MAKES THINGS WORSE!
WE NEED SOMETHING TO MAKE US FEEL GOOD FOR 10 SECONDS, BUT ALL IT'S DOING IS MAKING OUR SITUATION WORSE!
[LisaErin82] Tony__how did you get into fitness? what keeps you going day in and day out? do you take 'breaks' throughout the year?
LISA, GOOD QUESTION.
WHICH TIES INTO THIS TOPIC.
BECAUSE I HAVE TO!
BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO!
BECAUSE THE ALTERNATIVE SUCKS!
MANY PEOPLE IN THIS CHAT ROOM KNOW THAT IT’S TOO VITAL, IT'S TOO IMPORTANT.
IT MAKES LIFE SO MUCH BETTER. NOT TO DO IT MAKES FOR A LESSER LIFE.
SO IF YOU DON'T MIND YOUR LESSER LIFE KEEP ON EATING CRAP BASED ON ALL YOUR LAME EXCUSES.
I GOT INTO FITNESS BECAUSE I WANTED TO LOOK BETTER, I STAYED IN FITNESS BECAUSE I LIKE FEELING BETTER.
I LIKE THE QUALITY OF MY LIFE TO IMPROVE, BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND THAT EXERCISE AND EATING RIGHT DOES THAT.
I LIKE BEING FIT AND I LIKE BEING HEALTHY.
I UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF THOSE THINGS
I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT TO ACHIEVE THEM, I HAVE TO EAT RIGHT AND EXERCISE AT LEAST 6 DAYS A WEEK
MY POOR EATING HAS DIMINISHED LESS AND LESS OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS.
I'VE ALMOST CUT CHOCOLATE OUT. WHICH IS HARD FOR ME.
I NOTICE THAT WHEN I GET TO THAT ROUGH PATCH OF 2 OR 3 WEEKS WHEN I'M TRYING TO GET OFF OF ANY KIND OF A PARTICULAR BAD FOOD HABIT THE CRAVINGS GO AWAY AND I FEEL BETTER MORE OFTEN.
I SLEEP BETTER.
MY DIGESTION IS BETTER.
MY ENERGY IS UP.
MY MOODS ARE UPBEAT AND POSITIVE MORE OFTEN.
BTW, FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE STRUGGLING WITH YOUR DIET (WHICH I KNOW IS PROBABLY MORE THAN 11 OF YOU)
IF YOU NOTICE YOU'RE STRUGGLING IN LIFE, GUESS WHAT?
THAT STRUGGLE COMES WITH WHAT YOU PUT IN YOUR MOUTH FIRST, NOT VISA VERSA
ONE CAUSES THE OTHER.
IT'S NOT COINCIDENCE THAT YOUR WACK DIET IS PART OF YOUR WACK LIFE.
EVERYBODY READ ME?
HEARING ME?
FEELING ME?
ANYBODY THINK I'M TALKING TO THEM DIRECTLY?
HOW DOES THAT FEEL?
KINDA CRAPPY, RIGHT?
AS DR. PHIL WOULD SAY
HOW'S THAT WORKING OUT FOR YOU?
WHEN THIS CHAT IS OVER TONIGHT I WANT YOU TO WALK AWAY WITH SOME THOUGHTS IN YOUR HEAD THAT MIGHT NOT EXIST AFTER A NORMAL CHAT.
ONE THOUGHT OR QUESTION I SHOULD SAY IS... WHAT AM I GONNA DO ABOUT IT?
BECAUSE RIGHT NOW YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING.
YOU'RE JUST LETTING LIFE PUSH YOU AROUND.
SUPER LEAN, SUPER RIPPED, SUPER HEALTHY, SUPER STRONG PEOPLE DO EVERYTHING RIGHT.
PEOPLE THAT ARE PRETTY RIPPED, PRETTY HEALTHY, PRETTY STRONG, DO MOST THINGS RIGHT
PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT OVERWEIGHT, NOT UNHEALTHY, BUT LOOK OK DO ABOUT HALF OF THE IMPORTANT THINGS RIGHT.
I COULD KEEP GOING BUT YOU UNDERSTAND WHERE I'M HEADED.
3 MONTHS AGO, I WAS DOING MY 90/10 % PLAN AND THAT WAS PRETTY GOOD, YOU KNOW, 6 PACK, ETC.
BUT WHEN I CLEANED IT UP MORE, I'M JUST LEANER AND I FEEL BETTER.
IT WORKED FOR ME
AND I DON'T MISS THE CHOCOLATE.
YOU KIDS NEED A PLAN.
ANYBODY WANT A PLAN RIGHT NOW?
FREE OF CHARGE?
NOW THIS PLAN IS SO SIMPLE IT'S GONNA FREAK YOU OUT!
YOU HAVE YOUR PIECES OF PAPER AND WRITING UTENSILS READY?
AT THE TOP OF A PIECE OF PAPER WRITE THIS;
I, [WRITE YOUR OWN NAME] HEREBY DECLARE THAT I WILL FOLLOW THE TONY HORTON FOOD PLAN FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS.
I'M GONNA GIVE YOU KIDS THE HARD CORE VERSION NOT MODIFIED VERSIONS OF THE FOOD PLAN.
OK, PICK UP YOUR PENCILS AGAIN.
#1
FOR THE NEXT 30 DAYS I WILL NOT EAT WHITE BREAD OR ANYTHING MADE WITH ENRICHED FLOUR OR PROCESSED FLOUR
SNICKERS BARS.
DONE!
OUT!
GONE!
BYE BYE!
SEE YA LATER!
NO MAS!
SIANARA!
GOT IT?
GET IT?
DO IT!
#2
I WILL GREATLY REDUCE MY DIARY INTAKE.
AND FOR SOME OF YOU NO MORE DIARY!
GET IT?
DO IT!
NO MORE PIZZA WITH A TON OF CHEESE!
NO MORE MILK!
NO MORE ICE CREAM!
GONE!
OUT!
GO BUY SOME ALMOND MILK OR RICE MILK.
OR I'LL SMACK YA.
#3
NO MORE CARBONATED BEVERAGES.
NO MORE PEPSI.
NO MORE COKE.
NO MORE 7 UP.
NO MORE SPRITE.
NO MORE DR. PEPPER.
NO MORE DIET PEPSI.
NO MORE DIET COKE.
NO MORE ZERO COKE.
NO MORE MOUNTAIN DEW.
NONE!
#4
WATER AND TEA ONLY!
IF YOU'RE A COFFEE PSYCHO, 1 CUP A DAY.
SHUT UP AND DO IT!
#5
AT LEAST 2 OF YOUR MEALS A DAY THERE'D BETTER BE VEGETABLES ON YOUR PLATE.
1 MEAL A DAY, THERE'D BETTER BE FRUIT.

#6
HERE'S HOW YOU'RE GETTING YOUR PROTEIN.
NUTS, BEANS, FISH, TURKEY, AND CHICKEN.
THAT'S IT!
SHUT UP AND DO IT!
GET OFF THE RED MEAT FOR A WHILE.
OFF!
I DON'T CARE ABOUT LEAN RED MEAT.
JUST GET OFF OF IT!
#7
FOR THE FIRST 2 WEEKS OF YOUR 30 DAY PLAN
WRITE IT DOWN!
WRITE IT DOWN!
EVERY MORSEL!
"OH, BUT TONY, THAT'S SO HARD, IT TAKES TIME, WHAT IF I FORGET A PEN? WHAT IF I'VE LOST MY PAD OF PAPER TO WRITE DOWN WHAT I'VE EATEN? DOES THAT MEAN I HAVE TO WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING IN MY SALAD? WHAT IF THERE'S AVOCADO, PEPPERS, MUSHROOMS, NUTS, IN DIFFERENT KINDS OF SALAD, DO I HAVE TO WRITE IT ALL DOWN?"
SHUT UP YOU WHINY LITTLE BI*****!
IF YOU WANT TO LIVE LARGE AND YOU WANT THIS MICROSCOPICALLY SHORT LIFE OF YOURS TO BE WORTH SHOWING UP FOR
THEN YOU'LL MAKE A PLAN.
YOU'LL DO WHAT I SAY AND THINGS WILL BE GOOD!
OR YOU'LL KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'VE BEEN DOING AND THEN YOU'LL JUST BE WHAT YOU ARE RIGHT NOW, OR WORSE.
OKAY?
THIS COUNTRY HAS TURNED INTO PRE-ROME, AND THE EMPIRE'S ABOUT TO COLLAPSE.
THE ONLY WAY WE CAN BEGIN TO TURN IT AROUND IS TO START TAKING CARE OF OURSELVES FIRST, SO THAT WE HAVE THE ENERGY AND ENTHUSIASM TO TAKE CARE OF THE REST OF THE CRAP THAT IS GOING SOUTH IN OUR LIVES.
POOR EATING HABITS AND LACK OF PHYSICAL MOVEMENT HAS TURNED THE VAST MAJORITY OF US INTO WHINY LITTLE CRY BABY LOSERS.
FAR TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE LIVING IN THIS STATE OF QUIET DESPERATION.
IT'S LIKE JOE THE PLUMBER...
GOOD GRIEF!
THE GUY, AND NOT TO GET POLITICAL, BECAUSE IT'S NOT POLITICAL AT ALL.
HERE'S A GUY PRETENDING TO BE A PLUMBER
WHEN HE'S ACTUALLY AN UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR WHO DOES PLUMBING, PROCLAIMING THAT HE HAS THE MONEY TO BUY THIS $250,000 PLUMBING BUSINESS, WHEN IN ACTUALITY THE PLUMBING BUSINESS IS ACTUALLY A $100,000 PLUMBING BUSINESS. HE STILL OWES BACK TAXES AND HE MAKES LESS THAN $40k A YEAR. JOE IS MAKING THINGS UP TO MAKE A POINT.
SO JOE THE PLUMBER NEEDS TO READ LAW #5
GET REAL JOE!
WE HAVE TO STOP PRETENDING THAT LIFE IS SOMETHING OTHER THAN WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING TO US.
THE POINT I'M TRYING TO MAKE FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT ARE STILL A LITTLE CONFUSED IS THAT WE HAVE TO TAKE CONTROL OF OUR LIVES. THE ONE THAT IS HAPPENING, NOT THE PRETEND ONE.
WE HAVE TO TAKE CONTROL OF OUR EATING.
WE HAVE TO STOP THE FANTASY VERSION AND START BELIEVING IN THE REAL ONE.
WE HAVE TO STOP PRETENDING THAT THINGS ARE GOING TO GET BETTER BECAUSE WE JUST BOUGHT A NEW CRYSTAL, OR OUR PALM READING WENT WELL, OR SOMEBODY ELSE'LL DO IT FOR US, OR IF WE JUST HOPE OR PRAY IT'LL GET BETTER ON ITS OWN.
GOOD GRIEF!
IF YOU ARE NOT HAPPY, IT'S BECAUSE OF YOU!
IT'S JUST YOU.
YOU AND NO ONE ELSE.
NOT YOUR HUSBAND, NOT YOUR WIFE.
NOT GOD.
NOT YOUR PARENTS.
NOT YOUR WORK.
NOT THE WEATHER.
NONE OF IT.
IT'S YOU AND THE INFORMATION OR LACK THEREOF, INSIDE YOUR BRAIN.
THE MORE YOU KNOW, THE MORE YOU CAN DO
I CAN GET IN HERE AND SHOW YOU LITTLE TRICKS ABOUT HOW TO EAT BETTER OR DO PUSHUPS ON YOUR KNEES BUT THE FACT OF THE MATTER IS SUCCESS IS A DEEPER MORE PROFOUND LOOK WITHIN.
ARE YOU WITH ME PEOPLE?
CAN YOU DIG IT?
IF YOU STICK WITH THE SIMPLE PIECES TO THAT PUZZLE OR THAT PLAN, WEIGHT WILL COME FLYING OFF.
YOUR BODY WILL CHANGE.
I DON'T WANT YOU TO COUNT CALORIES.
I WOULD LIKE YOU TO EAT SMALLER MEALS.
I WOULD LIKE YOU TO NOT EAT A COUPLE HOURS BEFORE YOU GO TO BED.
I ALSO WANT TO SAY THAT THERE'S A LIST IN LIFE.
THE GOOD LIFE LIST
THINGS LIKE;
GETTING 7 1/2 TO 8 HOURS OF SLEEP. IT'S NOT LIKE YOU HAVE TO PASS AN EXAM TO KNOW HOW TO DO THAT
EXERCISE 5_6 DAYS A WEEK. IT'S NOT LIKE YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR PERMISSION FROM SOMEONE ELSE.
YOU JUST DO IT!
EATING FRUITS, VEGETABLES, WHOLE GRAINS, AND LEAN PROTEIN AND NOT ALL THE OTHER GARBAGE IS HOW YOU STAY HEALTHY.
THAT’S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.
YOU KNOW, STUFF LIKE BRUSH YOUR DAMN TEETH TWICE A DAY.
FLOSS ONCE IN A WHILE.
DON'T BLOW OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD SO YOU CAN'T PAY IT OFF.
CHOOSE PATIENCE OVER RAGE.
BE IN THE MOMENT.
ENJOY THE JOURNEY.
DON'T BE ATTACHED TO THE OUTCOME.
DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF, BECAUSE IT'S ALL SMALL STUFF.
OPEN THE DOOR.
TRY NEW THINGS.
CHANGE IS GOOD.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH LIKE_MINDED, UPBEAT, GOOD HUMORED PEOPLE.
OKAY, HERE'S THE BOOK OF THE WEEK
IT'S CALLED "MADE TO STICK"
THIS BOOK WILL HELP YOU FORMULATE NEW HABITS, THAT STICK.
THE AMAZING THING ABOUT EXERCISE AND EATING WELL...THE OUTCOME. IF YOU'RE CONSISTENT.
IT'S THE SAME FOR EVERYONE.
I KNOW I GOT ON MY BOX NICE AND TALL HERE TODAY BUT I JUST HATE SEEING SMART PEOPLE MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES
OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
IT'S GOT TO BE FRUSTRATING.
WHEN IT COME TO HEALTH AND FITNESS (IN GENERAL) THERE’S 3 GROUPS OF PEOPLE.
THE FIRST GROUP IS, PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW BETTER.
THEY HAVEN'T COME ACROSS THIS INFORMATION YET. THEY'RE STILL BUYING INTO WEIGHT WATCHERS, NUTRISYSTEM, HERBAL LIFE AND OTHER PROGRAMS THAT WORK AS LONG AS YOU USE THEM.
BUT I DON'T KNOW ANYBODY WHO'S BEEN DOING WEIGHT WATCHERS FOR 15 YEARS.
THEY’RE "WEIGHT LOSS ONLY" PRODUCTS THAT ARE TEMPORARY FIXES.
THESE SAME FOLKS ARE BUYING STUPID AB CHAIRS, AB LOUNGES AND SOME ROTATING PUSHUP STANDS. THIS STUFF IS SUPPOSED TO CHANGE YOUR ENTIRE BODY?
GIVE ME A BREAK!
THEY DON'T KNOW BETTER SO THEY GET TO BE STUCK.
THEN THERE'S CATEGORY 2
PEOPLE THAT COME HERE AND UNDERSTAND THAT EXERCISE HAS TO HAPPEN 5_6 DAYS A WEEK. VARIETY WORKS!
THERE HAS TO BE INTENSITY AND CONSISTENCY.
THESE PEOPLE ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT HEALTHY FOOD IS PART OF THE EQUATION. WHEN FOLKS IN CATEGORY 2 DISCOVER THIS INFORMATION THEY UNDERSTAND IT'S IMPORTANCE LIKE AIR AND WATER AND LIVE IT.
FAR TOO MANY PEOPLE (THERE ARE SOME OF YOU THAT ARE IN THIS CHAT ROOM) ARE IN CATEGORY 3
PEOPLE WHO KNOW BETTER BUT AREN'T WILLING TO APPLY THE INFORMATION.
IT'S LIKE KNOWING HOW TO BREATHE BUT DECIDING TO CONSTANTLY HOLD YOUR BREATH TO BE MISERABLE.
IT'S SUCH A BUMMER.

THIS GROUP OF PEOPLE ARE THE SADDEST OF ALL.
NOT FROM MY PERSPECTIVE, BUT FROM THEIR OWN.
DOES THIS SOUND LIKE IT MAKES SENSE TO ANYONE IN HERE?
[Neeeena] If I say "yes" will you not call us b*tches anymore?
NEEENA, I'LL CALL YOU WHAT I WANT :)
AND I MEAN IT IN THE NICEST MOST LOVING CARING POSSIBLE WAY.
AND LIKE DR. PHIL WOULD SAY
SO HOW'S THAT GOING FOR YOU?
[Neeeena] ok then dude, you're getting a "nice and most loving caring " email.
SO WE KNOW OUR PLAN, CORRECT?
WE KNOW WHAT TO DO, RIGHT?
WE'RE GONNA DO IT RIGHT?
WHY NOT?
THE END RESULT WILL BE AWESOME!
YOU CAN ALL HAVE WHAT I HAVE AND I'M NOT THAT SMART.
I JUST FOLLOW THE RULES.
I'M LIKE SCOTT FIFER.
JUST FOLLOW THE RULES
ALRIGHT, KIDS, THAT'S IT
10
9
8

THAT'S IT, I'M OUT
GOODNIGHT EVERYONE

Like I told our friend, I thought it was one of the best chats EVER given by you, Tony! It showed your passion regarding health and fitness as well as love towards all who hang on to ever word you say. I for one appreciate the honesty and truth to your words. I needed some tough love! And I love you for it! This chat came at a very important time in my life. It's made me re-focus, it's made me realize my decision to go back and do P90 was the right one in order to see the weight loss results I want. BUT More importantly it's made me realize, better quality of life, better health, how I feel, is much more important than if or when I ever see a certain number on the scale. If I eat clean and exercise 6 days a week, the results will follow. But who cares WHEN that'll be, does it really matter in the end. This is MY life and I'm going to enjoy each day. I've stopped stressing over it thanks to you. I feel so much more at peace with myself. Thank you! Never apologize for being who you are, we all appreciate YOU for being REAL! :)

Question regarding 30 day diet and protein? Are we allowed the BB protein bars or meal replacement shakes during the 30 days???

Thanks!

All the way from Canada! ;)

Ahh, so the drill instructor side comes out of our favorite personal trainer..Tony,I'm sure we needed this talk in some way or another. Besides if not having this talk now, should we wait until after the holidays and much more damage done? About the diet, I have been following it since I started p90x in May ( Finishing 2nd round). I have found that some of that food looks tempting, if I eat it I remember why I gave it up. It makes me feel horrible sometimes even physical pain. Thank you so much for all you do.
Much love to ya!

I see nothing wrong Tony you were being passionate about what you truly believe in...I noticed the same thing when I used to go to the GYM that is before I found P90X...I would see people workout and then down a snickers bar or something like it...makes no sense to me.....anyway thanks to you and Beachbody I have made great changes I am at 9% body fat and no longer have sweet cravings...I can drink my coffee black with no sugar and best of all I love it .

Thank you and keep on doing what you are doing...

Hey Tony, You asked for comments so here's mine. RANT ON BROTHER! I don't think you were out of line at all. The advise was dead on and tough love is exactly what people need. Hope you bring your soap box to the next one.

Thanks for all you do!

Tony,

Just as our good friend Lori from the Great White North said, "It was one of your greatest chats ever!" Man, I could feel the passion, knowledge and strength of your words clear across the country, and I gotta say that the influence of those words on my philosophy about fitness is immense!

Your fifth law of fitness, REALITY, was a major part of that chat session. We all needed a jolt of this healing medicine--not from a bottle or a pill, but from the mouth of an honest, passionate, hard-driving guy who lives the religion that he preaches. YES, Rome is burning, and we owe it to all our hard-working ancestors and ourselves to try our best to squelch the flames of mediocrity, depression, listlessness, obesity and learned helplessness!

You know, Tony, I've been pressing play since it all started back in 2000. Yeah, I lost some weight, but never realized my true potential, basically due to some poor choices on my part. Now, I can really feel the change coming (free of charge!-:)), especially after the extraordinary information, motivation and inspiration that I gained from your chat that night. Dude, you are a living miracle worker, and just keep following the rules, my friend.

Nick

Tony - I thought the chat was inspiring and real. In fact, today was my 2nd day without Diet Coke. It hasn't been easy however I can do just about anything for 30 days. I gave up smoking 12 years ago and after that.....giving up Diet Coke has to be a breeze.

You said - No Dairy. That includes eggs/egg whites right?

Thanks, Kiki

*ROFL* !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*wiping eyes* I was wondering when that was going to happen. Sure you're not a preacher? 'Cuz brother, you sure got an "amen" outta me. BRING IT! LOVE IT!

I greatly appreciate the emphasis that we desperately need to take control of our lives and quit acting like someone is going to show up and fix it all FOR US. It's the indifference that got us where we are, passion and perseverance is the only way to turn that around.

The only thing better is if I could have *heard* that, but honestly I'd probably still be laughing. This is *so* getting printed out and stuck on the fridge.

A tad kinder? *shaking head*, nah. Sometimes a foot up the ass qualifies as motivation, information and inspiration when needed. What can I say? Thank you for giving a damn.

Tony,

What can I say other than thank you. Again, it speaks to who you are as a person. As you told us in New York, you are not an ADVICE person. You deal in a reality. It has to do with honesty. To quote Joseph Sugarman:

"Each time you are honest and conduct yourself with honesty, a success force will drive you toward greater success. Each time you lie, even with a little white lie, there are strong forces pushing you toward failure."

Those that take your view in any way other than a brutaly honest assesment of where they may or may not be at seem to miss the point. Fitness and nutrition is not brain surgery. It deals in honesty. No gadgets, no gimmicks. As I have said, LOSERS blame others, or the product, or the lack of time, or the food, or their relatives...or anything else I could list ad nauseum. To tell others to strive for honesty in their lives is bold. Is takes a change, an uncomfortable feeling for most, and a commitment.

Tony, you are not asking or telling people to be you. You're simply asking them to just follow a template. If they find problems with that or think you are mean with your delivery, that is THEIR problem. Agreement #1of the Four Agreements, a book YOU recommended for me my friend, states:

Be impeccable with your word.

I cannot think of a more perfect example of this agreement than you chat from the other night. You made the words mean something and you spoke with an honesty. You were impeccable. My only regret was that I could not be there.

All my very best,
Chuck

Hey Tony, thanks for putting your "rant" online. I miss your chats cuz I work nights. There is nothing out of line with what you said. It is exactly what I needed to hear. Thanks and keep on doing all that you do.

Anne

That was amazing! Forget about being kinder, that is exactly what people need to hear, the truth. I bought P90X back in May, and it changed my life, not only did i press play, but I listed to everything you said during the workouts, read the workout guide, and applied it to great success. I wish that 10 years ago someone would have said something any where close to what you said in the chat to me...could have saved me from wasting my younger years being over weight and miserable. It has been true, for me at least, that once you commit to a life of fitness, truly commit, its hard to let that slip away. I think your great Tony, and your training, though in DVD form, has changed my life!

Anonymous said...

I'm in my 3rd "1st week" of P90X in as many weeks. I just got the kick in the ass I needed. I needed to hear from someone else what I was thinking in my own head - about myself. Thanks Tony! I love P90X and have already preached it to others. Even with the fits & starts I've seen great changes and I am a believer.

Now that I've stopped laughing, have a few more comments. It's very obvious that you care about other people, how they're doing, and want to see them do better. I can't see anyone having an issue with that. If it requires a little smacking around now and again, well, we know it's all out of love, we understand!

Seriously, I greatly appreciate this rant in particular because it's hammering home the points that the decisions one chooses to make have a direct impact on one's quality of life. You'd think it's obvious, but not so much. I've been pushing play since February, and never looked back. I can't imagine sinking that much effort just to let it slide, but I'm not qualified to be anyone's judge. The conscious decisions I've made about what I eat, how I spend my time, etc., spill over into all aspects of my life, and THAT is where the payoff for me is. I'm back on track with accomplishing goals, and making a life and a future for myself instead of just waiting for "something" to happen. That "something" is me getting my a** in gear, is what. It started with P90X, but it sure as hell didn't end there.

Thankyouthankyouthankyou for not holding back!!!!!!!

Peace, Rae

I agree with what Tony said and the message. I don't even mind the way he said it - tough, yeah, but something a lot of people (including me at times) need to hear. What I do not like is his "non-political" reference to Joe the Plumber. Yeah, right, Tony - now who's not being honest with themselves? Non-political. HA! You couldn't have used any other example? By the way, I'm only posting as anonymous because I don't have an account.

JudyZavislak said...

Tony, I've been in a major slump. Monday before your chat I couldn't get myself to do anything. I was really feeling down in the dumps. My fitness was declining because I wasn't getting in 5-6 workouts per week, more like 2-4. My eating was horrible!

I was feeling the effects of that abuse, and it wasn't just physical. Mild depression was settling in.

If I could summarize what you said in the chat (reading between the lines), it was "If you know what to do and are not doing it, you are a loser".

OUCH! It stung, but it was the truth. Maybe you didn't actually say this, but that's what I was feeling.

BUT!!! It was just what I needed to hear! I've totally turned things around since Monday night. I'm eating better than I have in a LONG time, taking my supplements again, and have worked out with intensity every day since.

I don't know how you knew I needed that kick in the rear, but you gave it to me at just the right time!!!

THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!!!! :-)

"CHOOSE PATIENCE OVER RAGE."

Take your own advice much? Sorry, I couldn't resist.

"DON'T BE ATTACHED TO THE OUTCOME."

How does one do the above and yet hold onto this goal? "SUPER LEAN, SUPER RIPPED, SUPER HEALTHY, SUPER STRONG PEOPLE DO EVERYTHING RIGHT."

I'm a health professional so much of your message resonates with me but IMHO while screaming at people might get them off the couch and into the action stage for a while it won't keep them there, especially when the message is so mixed.

Hey Tony,

Great rant dude, you had me at "SHUT UP YOU WHINY LITTLE BI*****!" Man that was some good stuff! Having been through P90X & the Plus going on six times now and having worked and coached countless people to their own success and watched so many people fail as well.

The most frustrating thing for me is to have people come to me and ask, "what did I do to get ripped or how can I get ripped like Tony?" And when I lay it out much like you did here, I might get the response, "well I don't want to eat like that, or take any supplements, etc.," my response to that is, "well then you're not serious about your goals and you're just fooling yourself you should reconsider your goals."

The fact is, it's easy to be out of shape and unhealthy, you just stuff whatever you want in your face and sit on your butt. How hard is that?!

But it's hard damn work to change your eating habits and excercise 5-6 times a week. And the funny thing about it all is that there is no secret to how it works. Pick any Beachbody program out there, they all come with nutritional guidelines along with the fitness excercises. Follow the program, they work!

Like I say all the time, "It's Simple, Just Not Easy!"

Okay...now I ranted.

ps., I'll agree with you on everything except your take on "Joe the Plumber". :) All politics aside.

Tony, great rant my brother! Just what I needed. My buddy sent this to me, and it came at a time I needed it. I had a breakdown back in April, and lost my focus. Been trying to pick up the pieces and get back on track. This slap in the face was perfect. Made me rethink the why I want to do this, and refocus.

I'm taking the 30 day challenge, and will write down EVERYTHING that goes into this mouth, and will workout every day as I should be doing. It's to feel good again to be healthy and fit!

Thank you for ranting, some of us need to hear the truth (truth hurts) and I'm printing this off to review daily!

Thanks brother!

Tony, I came to read this post after hearing about it at another website. YOU ROCK. THANKS FOR KEEPING IT REAL. As a struggler, I know that YOU ARE SPEAKING TO ME. I am going to take you up on your 30 day challenge and decide to choose to differently.

Although I am following my plan there is that bit of slippage between following the food plan and learning where you can make allowances. CHEATING IN OTHER WORDS.

And really life is about choices.

Tony, awesome job. I could see that everything you said was because you care about those people. Sometimes it takes some tough love for someone to figure out that they are just being dishonest with themselves. It is easier for people to keep making excuses then to commit to a certain length of time. I am 27 and in medical school. My schedule is as busy as it has ever been, yet I MAKE time to stay active. I take a lunch box to school and do not sit through classes going through two or three sodas like I see 70% of my class do. People ask me if I work out every day amd I tell them I do something active every day. They often tell me they should do that too, yet day after day they don't. I am much happier and more productive when I am working out and getting 8 hours of sleep. I have committed to doing something and it is that important to me. If I keep making excuses, then it must not be that important to me, and therefor I shouldn't kid myself with excuses, rather just be honest with myself. I enjoy your blog and P90x. I would love some tips for how to eat right while flying (the only way I see it, I have to eat protein bars as they are the only things that will get through security.) Also, would love tips on how to eat right while being a guest at another person's house. That is where it is the toughest for me.

I wasn't there at chat but read your blog and was glad your friend sent it to you so we who weren't there could read your words :).

I'm one that you ranted about who lost the weight, kept it off and let the "life" and depression and other "excuses" back and not get it under control. So all that work over those 9 months were wasted.

So I start and stop...start and stop and end up taking 3 steps forward, 2 steps back.

Some people need "harshness" to get their rear into gear!

I've printed this out and will keep it as my reminder!

Thanks Tony and please keep ranting away! <3

Thank you LM for being a voice of sanity amongst all the worshippers.

I was disappointed in you, Tony, because I never thought you to be the type to call people "losers" or "whiny b*tches" because they struggle. I thought you were all about acceptance, no matter what your size, your abilities or your situation.

Maybe it is easier for you, Tony, because this is your profession you can invest everything you have into it. Others out here are juggling jobs, bills, kids, spouses... it's a delicate balance to include fitness and nutrition, but in a way that does not TAKE AWAY from the rest of the things in one's life.

Too many people on Beachbody become - for lack of a better term - overly obsessed with their own image. The drive to be "fit" (meaning "look" fit) becomes a monster. These people are the ones who end up feeling like failures because they missed a workout or two, or because they actually enjoyed a slice of cake on someone's birthday, or enjoy having a few beers and pizza with friends. (Gasp! Imagine!) So in their guilt and shame they go and work their bodies even harder, as a form of self-punishment for being weak...... for being "wrong".

Some of us out here have found a very happy way to live that includes it all. Some of us have finally found PEACE within ourselves, finally found a BALANCE that includes time with family, friends, time spent devoted to career and hobbies, working out, eating healthy, yet still enjoying that beer and pizza without all the self flagellation.

For some of us, that means not maintaining that perfect size 2, that apparently you (and so many others) feel is indicative of a person's being "in shape".

And for many of us, that's OKAY.

I'd rather be a size 8-10 and HAPPY than a size 2 and miserably running that "gotta keep it like this 24/7 rat race" any day.

I hope you are able to think about your words and see how they could be hurtful to some, how they could be off-putting to those seeking reassurance that yes, it is a struggle, and yes they CAN find a balance.

Tony,

I feel your passion and your frustration, My Friend! Mike and I have always admired you for the passion you have for the healthy lifestyle. Thank you for the tough love! Even though for some it is hard to hear. We all have just one life to live and how you live it is totally up to you. However, I for one would like to live that one life that God has granted me with to the fullest! This is the reason why Mike and I live the lifestyle that we do. It's not about being the most ripped or having the lowest BF% it's about being as healthy as we can be so that we live as long as possible together! It's about setting an example for our four kids to follow so that they don't struggle with weight, heart disease, Diabetes and other deadly diseases! It's about living to the max! So thank you Tony for driving that point home for me and Mike. We are on the right track and we have you as well as some many BB members to thank for that! keep leading by example and if someone takes offense to your words, so be it. It wasn't about hurting people feeling, it was about opening people eyes and minds to the fact that this is the only life you have so live it to the fullest and healthiest you can! Otherwise it may be cut short!

Nothing but love for you, Tony!

Tony, right on brother, you hit nail right on the head hard. There are far too many people whining about their problems instead of doing something about it for a lifetime. It was a good reality wakeup for a lot of people I'm sure, but I think most of us will take that kick in the pants and move forward.

Thanks for your inspiration.

Hey Tony, me again! After reading some posts around the message boards, I feel I need to express some concerns that I missed during the chat (I was too busy cutting and pasting ;)). I'm sure many people here (including me) appreciate your tough love and have grown to know your sense of humor and are OK with that. We all love you! However (now it's my turn to give you some "tough love") there were many new people on that chat that left the chat that obviously didn't understand where you were coming from. One too many "Shut Up's" maybe. I think some were offended. I'm afraid they got the wrong impression and may not want to order anything "Tony Horton" has to offer again. I've heard you say before your "Ego is Huge!" I also know many people in BB land worship the ground you walk on and would never say a bad thing to you. I think of you as an older brother, whom I love and am only sharing this because I care about you and those who come to you for help. Just trying to keep it real! (((HUGS)))

TONY YOU ARE MY GOD! Um, my fitness god, that is, not to be mistaken with the Almighty.

Anyhoo, but that was an almighty that should move anyone who is serious about their fitness out of their funk.

I've been using P90X on and off for some time and have achieved some results...but I've gained back some weight. You have shamed into reality. My wife and I are true believers and we WILL be working your 30 day program to finally achieve the results we've been dreaming of--the results we say we want, but have not yet put forth the total effort it will take to achieve them.

At first I thought you were just some California 'pretty boy' just out to make a buck. Now I see you as a true fitness partner and believer in making lives change.

Thanks for being brutally honest..I felt you were talking directly to me.

Now, I'm off to BRING IT (legs & back today)!!

TH,
I don't want to jump on the "great job" train. Your rant was obviously directed to your Group 3. For those of us that have been Xing for awhile, have worked through a plateau or two, and have reached some short term goals, it's a bit preachy.
But hey... I'm a physician trained the old-school military way. Long hours, no sleep and constant belittlement. If I don't get a kick in the pants every now and again, I start to get soft.
On another note, from reading your rant I detect a hint of Eastern Philosophy and thought you might appreciate this quote:

By ourselves in evil done,
By ourselves we pain endure,
By ourselves we cease from wrong,
By ourselves become we pure.
No one saves us but ourselves,
No one can and no one may;
We ourselves must tread the Path,
Buddhas only show the way.

Thanks for posting a few signs along the path.

Hey Tony,
I'm new to P90x (I'm in my third week and it's just what I NEED right now, thanks for such a great program!) but not to fitness...I wanted to thank you for sharing your thoughts here. I'm not a member of BB and never used a BB program before P90x so I'm not real familiar with what goes on in the chats or who the people are.

I just wanted to make a few comments... When I realized that changing my health, body and fitness level started in my mind, a switch was flipped inside me.

To so many others, I've flipped my lid for getting up at 4:30 every morning to workout (I CHERISH that time, it's like my coffee, if I don't get it I'm grumpy!), I'm radical for the way I eat and I'm "insane" for being so disciplined. But this is about reaching--and even surpassing--my fitness goals, and being as healthy as I can be because God gave me this body to use to do good things here on earth, and I need to be responsible about how I treat it.

I feel blessed to know just a little of the good stuff that comes from a solid exercise program and sound nutrition plan, because now I know what I was missing. There may come a day that I lose the habits I've worked to establish, or I get off track (and I do have my pizza and chocolate moments) but I feel like every day I have to make that choice. Every morning I wake up to work out I feel like I cement that choice for the day.

There's a quote I love, "We don't change until the pain is so great, or the gain is so great". My journey of fitness and health thus far has shown me how the challenge of change has the potential to be transformational. I know that it has been for me. Pushing through to a new level has shown me the BEAUTY of change.

"Keep pushing through" has been my mantra for my workouts now. I just keep trying to push through.

I took to heart what you said. I appreciate your commitment to health and fitness and the seriousness with which you take your responsbility to those who are following your advice. I think you have some really wise things to say. You got heated up but I think that's because you care and you're frustrated with excuses. Thank you for caring about what you do.

I am grateful for the dose of reality. I didn't say 'french toast' to your question, but I sure am not perfect. It's a real reminder that we slip and have a few 'rough spots.' Your chat was a kick in the pants right back outta that rough spot.
Tomorrow starts the challenge--I fear the coffee part (I'm up to 1/3 of a pot a day.....) And thank you for the challenge to bring it to the next level with our eating habits.

Keep on rocking. Looking forward to next time.....I'll come better prepared--workout done not interrupted :P

From my Barbie blog to yours:

A friend who I hadn't spoken to in years called me yesterday and told me about his sister who had had gastric bypass surgery. I was surprised to learn that he and his sister were no longer as close as before; they seemed inseparable way back when. When I asked what had happened, my friend responded: "she didn't have food to comfort her anymore, so she took out her feelings on everyone around her. Her personality totally changed." I was shocked. She had always been such a sweet girl. But, what he said made perfect sense to me once I thought about it: once folks have gastric bypass surgery, they are unable to eat much more than an ounce of two or food at a time. Those who looked to food for comfort and who undergo such a surgery are often left without a new coping mechanism. So, instead of eating for comfort as a means to cope, she lashed out.

What does this have to do with Tony's rant that I posted on my blog last nite? Everything. Read on.

We all cope with life and its problems differently and to varying degrees of success. Some people cope with sex or alcohol. Some cope by lashing out, keeping it all in, or by not dealing with it at all. Some actually cope well for the most part and have good support systems in place. And well, some cope with food.

Oh, goodness, I just realized that I may be in way over my head. I have not even mentioned motivation and drive. Some people believe they are not good enough, that they don't deserve to succeed, to be loved, to be happy.

What am I getting at? I think that what I'm trying to say is that people are complicated and that the reasons some folks can't seem to get fit once and for all are related to deeper issues.

I loved Tony's rant last night. He had me saying Amen, Hallelujah at the end of every other sentence. Sometimes people need to just suck it up and bring it. But, sometimes, more help is needed and it's not as easy as just saying, "Okay, I'm gonna press play and eat clean six times a week." People's history, our baggage, whatever you call it, gets in the way.

So, now Tony's the bad guy and you're off the hook, huh? Not so fast!

Behind Tony's harsh language that some folks found inappropriate or offensive, there was a simple and empowering message that is the driving principle behind Jack Canfield's philosopy: You are responsible for your life. Only you have the power to change it.

Pressing play and eating clean may not always be as simple as the catch phrase Decide. Commit. Succeed. But, here's the catch, you can decide that you're going to do something about the fact that you're always stuck. You can commit to finding out what help exists out there to help you get to the root of some of your problems. Then, yes, I am sure of it, you will succeed.

It really is up to you.

Now, Bring it!

"CHOOSE PATIENCE OVER RAGE."

The ideas 'behind' your rant are to be commended. The hypocrisy of your outRAGEous delivery, however, have left me very disappointed in you.

You've come off every bit the whiney b*tch that you accused others of being.

It was a great chat and it was exactly what I needed to hear. I don't think that there is anyone that could not see your passion about fitness and and the people in the chat the other night. You care and that is what keeps me coming back and the fact that you keep it real.

I do agree with Lorij that there were new people in the chat that had never been there and this could have been a little rough for a first time. I also know that there were a lot of usual suspects in this chat saying they were struggling with their diet, me included. I've got to think that is pretty frustrating for you to see that.

I continue to come back for your honesty, tough love and truth. I took your words to heart and it meant something to me.

The only other thing I will say and this is not direct towards you Tony, but to read some of these comments and people throwing around the words loser and mushy women is I think wrong. Just because someone struggles does not make them a loser. They are the ones that need our support and help more.

Thank you for a great chat and for giving us a 30 day plan.

Fellow posters (opposed and supportive alike),

This "rant" has brought to light a great many issues about the human psyche as a whole. It shows what a journey fitness really is for people. It shows that fitness has a pace. And this pace is something that is forged in practice.

Words are important to me. They can, and often do, define me. I think before I write, they are not things I just "throw" around. Interpretation and comprehension are out of my control. I want to state I meant no offense and I apologize for any that were hurt by my words. All I can ask for is a little understanding and maybe a deeper look at the subject as a whole instead of the pinpoint focus of just yourself.

I have been following the blog since I posted my first comment and have had a myriad of feelings about what has been written. The toughest part of all of this for us is to look at this "rant" and not take it personally. To view it for what it is, a statement. A harsh statement, yes, but a statement just the same. Most have taken time to examine it within themselves and come to a conclusion and hopefully have grown from it.

Having been a person that used the word loser, and posted it in bold, I can understand how some may take this the wrong way. Although I cannot control the way people feel, nor do I bother to waste my time trying to control things I cannot, I meant no offense by it. In the blog entry that Tony posted just below this current one, I stated that there is a difference between a LOSER and a failure. I love failure and people that fail, we do it EVERY DAY!! I support those people. I have empathy for them. I struggle right along with them. I donate my time for them. All because I want to and because I care to see them succeed. Losers I choose not to associate with...plain and simple.

Look, I am nobody important. Just some guy from Maine that did a couple of programs, lost some weight, gained some insight into something a bit bigger than myself. I share what I've experienced with people and most seemed to like it. Some try it, some don't. I don't change people's lives...they do it. I wish everyone the best success that they can achieve, for themselves. Want I want for myself and what you want could be two completely different things, but success is measured personally. That's the true meaning of all of this stuff. That's why it's YOUR fitness journey.

Anywho...at the very least, this has people talking honestly about where they are at and where they hope to go. For that, I am thankful. And I hope we will continue to hold each other up, as is the vision of the Beachbody community. One final time, my sincerest apologies to any I may have offended. You have misunderstood my true meaning and hope you will now read and interpret what I have written in a different way.

All my very best,
Chuck

There's a reason why Drill Instructors motivate the way that they do - because it works. You're not going to get a Marine through the obstacle course by offering him a cookie if he finishes. A Marine finished the obstacle course to prove the Drill Instructor wrong – to prove that “Yes, I can do this. Yes, I am tough enough. And you, Mr. Drill Instructor, sir, were wrong about me.”

Tough love when done right leads to self-discovery. You're teaching us how to fish. I don't think I've ever gone 30 days in my adult life without carbonated beverages. I'm a Diet Coke freak! But for the next 30 days I'm going to give it up, just to prove to myself that I'm strong enough to do it.

Tony, there is no need for apologies on this one. Unfortunately we live in a world that is offended by straight talk. You gave it straight!. Damn this is too good not to comment on. I was going to post last night after I read the transcript but thought I would wait and re-read it the next day in case I missed the crux of what Tony was saying. While part of me understands some people's criticisms of the "tone" that it was written I would say to those offended by it to re-read the entire transcript once or twice and not just pick up on words like "loser" and "whiny little bitches." If anyone was offended by that you’re taking it way too personally and missing the important message that Tony was making. This piece was, in my humble opinion, mainly talking to people who know how to make important and significant changes to their health yet refuse to do the work necessary to achieve this, and then moan about the results. (That would be me more than once in my life in the past ;) It’s kinda like the saying “if we know what we know then why do we continue to do what we do?” We know the effects on bodies and minds by eating or drinking too much of anything. I was ‘addicted” to Starbucks until three weeks ago and walked around in a permanent “wired” state. For some reason I continued doing this until I questioned myself what the benefits were to being this way? (Err..none.)
The point is most of us do know what to do generally but for some reason we take the easier, negative route. Bill Phillips (Body For Life dude) mentioned in his book that imagine walking with a limp and then being trained how to walk correctly so you felt better, walked straighter and had all the added benefits associated with that simple change. Knowing all this why would you consider going back to walking the old way again? It’s easy to make excuses for eating too much, drinking too much, or not exercising. I’m sure most of us are dealing with issues today that truly have a negative impact on our lives, and it’s all too easy to blow off the things we probably need to do the most. I’m personally unsure of how I’m going to pay the mortgage next month if the truth be known. All I know is that through pushing play daily and making wise food choices that my body can really use I’m in a better physical and mental state to address this and sort it out. I believe General Patton once said; “An active mind cannot exist in an inactive body” That quote helps me daily make positive choices.

And for those who have had the pleasure and benefit of speaking with Tony personally they will tell you what an encouraging, passionate, and supportive person he really is.

Tony - What a great rant. I think we all need more truth and less placating. The deal with truth is that once you have heard it you cant claim ignorance. You are now held accountable to do something with it. So, that is why some people will get upset by what was said. Keep coming with the truth.

King Solomon told us:

"...Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. Prov 9: 8-9

Thanks for being strong enough to lay it out there.

WOW!

Looks like I hit a nerve. As a trainer it's very important for me to try and find ways and techniques to motivate and inspire people. Back in the day when I was attempting standup comedy as a possible career choice, one of my routines was called "the three faces of a trainer."

There was the therapist, the babysitter and the drill sergeant. The bit (not necessarily funny) was to show the audience 3 styles of training different kinds of people. Some folks require an upbeat mental approach to exercise, while others need a gentle tender care-taking approach. The third style is the one you experienced in chat last week and/or read in my blog.

My personality is such that I inherently lean toward the drill sergeant, but knowing fair well that this style doesn't resinate with some people, I've learned (the inspiration for the comedy bit) that to help more people you have to be flexible. Shrink some heads, hold some hands and kick some booty. It's all good. With this said I want to apologize to those of you who were not inspired by my rant. To those of you who were, don't disappoint me cause I'll smack ya! ;)

"THIS COUNTRY HAS TURNED INTO PRE-ROME, AND THE EMPIRE'S ABOUT TO COLLAPSE."

Tony, I don't think a lot of people caught or are "aware" of the impact of this statement, but this is probably the most profound sentence in your entire transcript.

I know this much - you were paying attention in history and sociology class! : ) Like Rome we've become too complacent, self-assured, over-indulged, greedy, and flat out lazy!

But the Barbarians are at our doorstep! I wish people would grasp the "urgency" of your message. Instead of looking to fad diets & fad fitness, variable rate mortgages, corrupt & greedy leaders to "save" us, we ourselves need to be "vigilant" in these things, eating right, exercising right, getting out of debt, and making our leaders accountable to us.

You're right my friend, while I always have hope that America's brightest days are ahead, if we don't heed the call to "vigilance" in all areas of our lives, and you correctly point out that this begins at the dinner table and the exercise mat, then we too will get "assimilated" into whatever is to be.

Being close to "50" myself, I know and agree with what you're saying, and I know your message is like swimming against the tide. I'm just glad we have leaders like you who are willing to say it. Wake up people!

Thank you Tony!

I never comment on blogs but this one compelled me to. I have finished Round 1 of P90X and am into Round 2 now and being a former athlete - I needed the pep-talk! I lost 25 pounds in Round 1 by eating better (not perfect) and following the plan. Still not to my goal and you are exactly on the mark as to why. Athletes, and everyone needs the truth and that is why I appreciate your comments. Someone has finally looked me in the face and told me the hard cold truth about why I am not at my goal yet.

Someone once told me that I should be happy that people are still trying to give me advice and corrections because once they stop, that means they have given up on you. You don't even know me but you know "me" and you have clearly not given up. I appreciate the honesty and the passion.

". . .a message that truly could have been inspiring to more people had you toned it down . . ."

It was inspiring to plenty of people just the way it was; the evidence is posted here. A toned down message would have inspired a different group of people.

It does not make sense to me to find a trainer (DVD or IRL) then try to change him/her into the type of motivator you need.

Tony,
I have to say that I agree with almost everything that your rant put forth, and I can empathize with your frustration. I have a great deal of respect for you and your work, I am however deeply disappointed in your inclusion of Joe Wurzelbacher (joe the plumber) in your rant. His inclusion is entirely political, and your attempt to make his story fit your thesis was clumsy and is a complete non sequitur.

Joe's situation is completely off topic and has nothing to do with people not following the programs. Furthermore your statements about his business aspirations are at the very least troubling. Joe had plans to purchase his bosses company. Of course he would have to get a business loan to do so, Tony, if he had the money he wouldn't really be planning it now would he? Haven't you ever had dreams and aspirations? It take investment capital to get businesses going. Hell, even I have plans to expand my company. That is going to take investment capital. Call me "Flo the IT guy".

What is the most troubling is you don't stop to think about why we know so much about the embattled "Joe the Plumber"? What did he do? He asked a presidential candidate a question about his tax policy and the candidate said something he shouldn't have. For that transgression Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher had his life flayed open for the world to see by officials in the Ohio government. That is scary stuff. Put your self in his shoes; what if it was you or me?

Leave Joe alone. He didn't ask for this.

Great chat rant EXCEPT for Joe the Plumber segment. So sick of politics. I thought I could get away from it for a while here. There are so many examples you can use that don't "go there".

Tony Horton said...

As I sit here I wonder whether it's worth defending my Joe-the-Plumber reference because I know it's going to make some of you hot under the collar. But I will not sit here and be chastised by people who you can't see past their own nearsightedness and unwillingness to understand the point I was trying to make. First of all you, don't forget that a "rant" is an unfiltered, unscripted verbal explosion, which can cause some collateral damage. I've already apologized once. When I post a traditional blog I'm able to write, edit and rewrite.

With that said, let me explain why Joe-The-Plumber matters here. Joe's story (whether you feel it's been thrust on him or not) is a story about a guy who wasn't being completely honest about his situation. There are real facts and there are exaggerations and mistruths. Our man Joe made a point to be in the limelight. No one forced Joe to ask the question. He made his way to the front of the crowd to ask a candidate a question. A very sound and legitimate question by the way. The issue I have with Joe is that the question he asked was NOT based on his real situation. That's why I brought it up in the chat room. It reminded me of the umpteen times people have come up to me at fitness camps, BeachBody events (and chat rooms) and told me a sad tail about how 6 days of exercise and super clean eating wasn't working. All I can do is look at them in the eye, and in the most encouraging way, tell them to keep pushing play. In my heart I know they're lying. Flat out bold face lies. These people can not and will not face the truth. They're NOT doing what they say they're doing.

The facts are the facts when it comes to Joe. Joe is NOT a licensed plumber. He does plumbing for a construction company that does NOT bring in the 250 thousand dollars he said it did. Joe owes around 1,100 dollars in back taxes for year 2007 and earns less than 42 thousand dollars a year. Nothing wrong with that. Another problem is that the plumbing company he works for is NOT for sale and no bank, in these times, on this earth would give him a loan even if it was. If poor "embattled" Joe is being "flayed open" then why does he now have a publicist, (I don't have a publicist) work on the stump for the other candidate, and looking for a record deal? Please!

Joe and the people that say they're NOT getting results from exercise and eating right, are the same. They live in a made up fantasy world, because reality is too painful. This is why I brought Joe up in a discussion about being real, honest, truthful and authentic. When Joe's all by himself late at night and he looks in the mirror does he (do you) know the difference between fact and fiction? He and the people in this community who say one thing and do another will never ever know what it's like to be free of the pressure of a false life story.

If this post angers you and you never want to use one of my products again because you think I've crossed the line, I respect that. I still encourage you to find ways to do the right things that make your life great. I just can't please all the people all the time, because it goes against who I am. Being real and authentic will often rub some folks the wrong way. I feel bad about that, but I refuse to be just another bland milquetoast trainer looking for a pat on the back.

Tony,

You told me once at one of your great fitness camps, "Remember, Nick, that you're the man!" And I just want to tell you that you're really being a man right here by elaborating on and clarifying your point regarding living life in the false lane, bro.

Hey, I've been guilty of believing my own BS for years! After 25 rounds of everything from "Great Body Guaranteed" to" P90X plus," I'm still around 200 lbs. Is that T. Horton's fault, or Carl's fault?? No, it's simply a product of my own crappy choice, and frankly, I needed to hear your kick-in-the-a$$, no-nonsensical, straightforward and honest approach to things in order to realize my own made-up illusions, and to finally put an actual stop to it all. I'll always be thankful for that!

As far as Joe the Plumber is concerned, I just gotta say "Only in America!" Honestly, I hope the guy makes a killing with his potential newfound notoriety, and gets to open a million-dollar plumbing company that they'll feature on the History Channel or something! But on the other hand, I also hope and pray that he discovers where he truly stands, vis-a-vis himself, if you know what I mean. God only knows, we all need to take a good, hard look inside sometimes.

Arrrrrrgh!

Tony, I appreciate you following up on your rant on Joe the Plumber but you do have the facts wrong here. I'll just say that Joe was throwing the football with his son when BO stopped by and bothered him -- there was not line to get in front of. Who knew by asking a simple question that folks would be dumping on poor Joe the Plumber? Its interesting that we know more about Joe the Plumber than BHO's ties to terrorist friend Bill Ayers and Anti-Semite Louis Farrakan and Rev Wright?

But like others have said before -- we go to you for inspiration on fitness and health and you are awesome -- when folks start bringin up politics/religion -- especially when they don't know what they are talking about, it rubs folks the wrong way.

I will still be bringin' it -- I love all your workouts, and looking forward to your next TH one on one!

Lovin' the lack of the milquetoast, BTW. I remember thinking I was healthy when I was smoking 2 packs a day and drinking 2 pots of coffee a day because I wasn't keeling over from lung cancer or having a heart attack. Yeah, I aimed real high, boy howdy. I remember thinking I was healthy when I quit all that and was still hitting the flour and the sugar like it was going out of style. Little better, but not quite.

When I finally listened to a few people that were trying to help me and I started eating a lot clean(er) <-- still getting there, and working out more.....NOW I finally know what these peeps are yapping about. My rheumatoid arthritis (which killed my music aspirations) is damn near gone, I have more energy than I know what to do with, and I get a giggle when someone undershoots my age by a good decade or so. But it's damn hard to relate to when there is no basis for comparison. Hence, easy to fool myself into thinking I'm just fine when I had no idea what "healthy" was. Kinda like trying to explain sex to a virgin, it's about that different on this side of the fence.

I guess the bright side is that when you asked for opinions, you sure got them. Sorry to see the digression on the political bent, it was a relevant example to illustrate the point you were trying to make. The fact that you explained yourself, again, has me shaking my head with "damn, do these people realize how rare it is to have someone be this accessible????". Er, probably not.

Again, thank you for what you do. You kick my ass, and my goal is one day to be able to return the favor. *grin*

I stop into read your blog when I get the chance, to read what obvious facts you give. And say, oh yes....I knew that already. You're an amazing personality that has made a difference in my life. Silly as it sounds, I applaud you from my tv screen most days a week. I continue to educate myself more on clean eating and feel really great about myself and what I put into my body.
Your comments sound exactly like mine except I work in the tax field and I've heard more excuses than you can even imagine. I've said many of the same things. A usual of mine is "the ball is in your court, it's your choice, you got here by choices that you made. What are you going to next?". Some people truly change and the ones who don't come front and center ALWAYS!! So, with that being said...Kido's to you my friend, you're making a difference to individuals you will never know....Keep the Faith.

Okay, so Tony proves here (as many others have…Morgan Spurlock of Supersize Me fame, contestants of the Biggest Loser) that we have a lot of weight issues here in the US. We have a high obesity rate. It’s shitty. I don’t like it, so, I just choose to hang out on the healthy side of the statistic, the crowd of whatever percentage of Americans who have a healthy weight and body fat percentage. That’s cool, a big ole’ bran muffin to me, right? Here’s what bothers me. I don’t care how much awesome stuff I do, unless I decide to become an ultra-marathon runner, I’m still going to have heavy thighs. They may be muscular, but they’ve got some bulk. This is how I am built. Depending on your heredity, you may have a heavier build. Whatever. Do you eat healthy and exercise? You’re ahead of the curve, my friend.

Next, the chocolate. I’m going to say this right now. I like chocolate. I will continue to eat a couple squares of dark chocolate as a treat. I like eating it because it makes me even more of the pseudo-European I aim to be! I also like Greek yogurt and I will declare it as my breakfast of choice! I’m such a rebel I don’t even consider them to be cheats. I don’t consider a glass of red wine or Guinness on the weekend a cheat. Like Ben Franklin, I consider it “proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy!” I will drink my daily coffee with delight. I will enjoy my cuppa Darjeeling in the afternoon. I will try new world foods even if they are not “A-OK” in the diet plan. I know that as long as I eat them in moderation, and do not make them a focus of my diet, and exercise daily, it’s okay. I’m not going to whine and blame eating these on other people, I’m not going to blame the 1/10 increase in my waistline on the media, peer pressure, or what have you. All I’m going to do that day is burn a few more calories to offset the increase. Pretty simple, really, and a win-win for me.

The point is, there’s a lot of us who are happy with our image and enjoy life. If you get off on being extremely hard on yourself because you were bad and ate a cupcake or didn't follow your strict carb ratio, then hey, that’s your deal. If that’s what trips your trigger, then that’s cool! I travel with my job and I’m always excited about trying new foods and cuisine. I understand not to pig out, and to still make the focus of a meal the healthy parts – vegetables, whole grains, lean meats. I’m in the healthy weight/BF% bracket, I have healthy blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and a healthy love life. I fit in my clothes and feel confident. I don’t obsess over my image in the mirror. I make incremental progress each week in my workouts and stick with them. I can run 3-4 miles at a healthy pace and that makes me happy. I get up early each day, do a round of P90X and go about my day. My weight fluctuates a little, but that’s natural. Do I look like bodybuilding perfection? No. Do I care to? No.

Sure, I could really become a slave to my diet and fitness and increase to some awesome level of fitness. Takes time, and more effort than I’m willing to put into it. I spend my spare time with those I love and as a volunteer firefighter. That works for me. I’m no model, not perfect, and I don’t wear a size 2. Am I going to drastically change my life because suddenly I woke up and felt like being vain? No, and this post motivated me more to stay my course and enjoy myself.

I think those that were turned off by your "rant" are the ones that see themselves in it. I know that some of that applies to myself and hearing it and admitting that I AM one of those people makes a world of difference. I have come a long way since I started at BB...am I perfect? No... do I want to be? As far as health-wise, YES, EMPHATICALLY so. Do I care what I look like? Of course I do. Do I want to look better? Of course I do. We all do or none of us would have started this journey. But like you, my path that started towards looking better took a right turn along the way to FEELING BETTER. I needed to hear what you had to say and am glad I came in and was able to read this after the fact.

You go Tony and never apologize for being you

If it weren't for your infinite words of wisdom, even if harsh, then I wouldn't be a super mega fit 35 year old! Who says life after 30 is downhill? I know not YOU! YEAH!!! I am just getting caught up on my blog reading and WOW! Wish I had been in the chat that night.

Tony, way to lay it out there. I loved it so much I printed it out and handed it out to folks at work. As usual, you are right. If we are not getting what we want out of our fitness program or our life, most likely the problem isn't that there "isn't enough time", or "my metabolism is slow" or "my boyfriend broke up with me" or I'm tired". It is the person looking at you in the mirror. Way to tell it like it is, Man!

Hey Tony - i literally just found your blog and I'm really excited about it. I loved this post because I am someone who has been in all three categories. I discovered P90X while feeding my baby late at night and started trying to change my life. But things happened, life got busy, my wife got cancer and I fell into some really bad habits. Recently, I dusted off my old copy of P90X and started trying to change my life again. Reading your rant was great, it was a wake up call, it was a breath of fresh air. You said a lot of things that I needed to hear, not only about health, but about life in general. Thank you! Even now you are helping to motivate and inspire me to do better every day and become a positive person. My wife is in recovery now and we are planning and training to run a 10K together this summer. Thanks again.

I am single now, and mom of three teenagers, so you can imagine all the money goes to feeding the crowd. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. If you are in MN again anytime soon, please feel free to look me up! HA ha Ha . I love your workouts, you are as goofy as I am, and it would be fun to learn more about you.
Have a beautiful day...

I love it and I think it needs to be posted on every message board! My favorite line is "since when did food solve anyone's problems?"
Why do/did I ever think that? So much destruction thinking going on in so many hurting people. They're just looking to the wrong thing for help.

Tony, your rant can pretty much be applied to any aspect of life. It's spot on. Not everyone does well hearing it so bluntly, but others do take it in the spirit of its intent.

While I need hearing this kind of thing for exercise reasons as well - though I'm doing OK - just ok - with that, I'm actually reading it to how I am going to mold my future: What I really WANT to do (career-wise) with my life and HOW to get there.

I've been kinda poking around others trying to get someone to tell me the magic way I can do this. And I've been slowly realizing that few have the precise answer for me. I'm the only one. I mean, I can ask for help and advice - indeed, I have to learn to do that! But the decision of what to do and to actually DO it are all mine.

End of story.

Actually, the post and also a later comment you make here in the comment thread touches on a good point.

Being honest about yourself with yourself.

It's the best way to at least be aware when things are going off the rails.

The thought of going up to you and claiming "I did all the workouts, etc, and I see no changes" when that isn't the case seems so foreign to me.

I'd be more likely to fess up and say:

"Look, I did P90X, but... after the first two weeks I ended up doing the 'core' (in my mind) of three days with the back/shoulders/arms/legs/etc. No Kenpo, no plyo, yoga, etc. I totally didn't do abs enough either. BUT... even with me not doing A LOT of what you say to do, I did see results - at least enough that I felt far happier about myself physically than ever before. The only reason I didn't see tons more benefits is because I didn't do the program balls-out (ie, 6 days a week, all the routines)."

Being essentially alone in the world, probably I need an external kick in the ass to take it to another level. But I SHOULD be able to kick myself instead.

Also, with the diet points you make, I think I lucked out with my half-assed approach because I'd already been shifting my life so that I do 1, 2 (lactose intolerant), 3, 4 (ok, 2 mugs of coffee), 5 (veggies only, though, so far), and 6 (usually - sometimes, beef, but mainly chix and fish, and sometimes the really lean pork that's out there now. Fake "meats" too).

If it weren't for that fortunate diet shift in my life which had already started, my half-baked approach to P90X would have gotten me little. And in that, and whatever lack of gains I could have had, the fault is mine and no one else's.

This was posted on the threads almost a month later and I am giving you a Standing Ovation for speaking the tough love truth to all the people who consistantly try to look like whomever they are trying to look like and lying all the way through the journey and making life pure hell for themselves and everyone else around them as the blame the world for their weight and any excuse they can come up with.

Fitness means getting healthy. If you want to be ripped, you do what it takes. If you want to in good health, you do what it takes. Neither of them is wrong. As long as you just get up off the couch and make a concerted effort to toss the lies into the wind for the last time and get real with yourself.

Thanks Tony. I will be passing this on to many acquaintances I have tried to help over the years and still make excuses of why they can't JUST DO IT!

I just read this. Today's Dec. 30. I just got involved with this fitness program. Way to go, Tony! I have to say...it's what America needs to hear. Your rant was just fine with me! You are right. Our health to a great extent is in our own hands. I just talked with two women who joined my gym, Lifestyle Fitness. (BTW, I am bringing your workouts with me to the gym, too.) Both ladies were..uh..well...into the obese range. I was very upbeat and congratulated them on taking a step in the right direction. And I basically told them, point-blank, "You just may be saving your own life." If that's not a reason to become healthier, I don't know what it is!

Dear Tony,
Love the rant! Just talked my husband out of ordering nutrisystem yesterday. Told him he doesn't need that garbage, that I'll help him with meals.

BUT MORE IMPORTANT: I'm actually writing to tell you that Doruk-who is featured in your infomercials, is on the Nutrisystem website as one of their "success" stories. Are you aware of this? I believe in your system, and in your plan. But what's up with that??? Yours was the one true infomercial I actually enjoy seeing, and believing, but having been on the nutrisystem website yesterday and seeing Doruk, then seeing him today on your infomercial really, reallllllly bothered me.

If you could comment on this, I'd appreciate it.

ruth said...

In response to the post about the Nutrisystem spokesman who also is a graduate of P90X:
I am not surprised. Nor should you be. No one is doing this for free. There are many plans out there, all with some degree of merit, and all for sale, for the most part. Even Tony hawks his products on his videos. And why shouldn't he? He needs to earn money like everyone else! So just go with it. Do what's right for you and don't worry about it. (And if you want to see a really great website - visit realage.com. Drs. Roizen and Oz are on a crusade to reduce obesity in this country. And their tools are free or extremely cheap. Just my two bits.

Anonymous said...

Hey Ruth,
Of course, I understand what you're saying. But you might have missed my point. Is Doruk really a "graduate" of P90X?? Oh I see, he did both Nutrisystem, and P90X?? The point is, I don't think so. Or at the very least, I wanted to hear from Tony, what is really up. P90X users, if they were really into the program and following Tony's advice, would not go to Nutrisystem. I think Doruk may be a little bit more into the money side of this than the truth and real life experience side of it.

Well, one thing you neglect to mention is that many people genuinely have emotional issues for which they require support. You don't come to the stage of taking radically self-improving steps until you are ready.
I think the most powerful tool is to have your "numbers" taken - cholesterol, blood sugar, etc. And also to think about how many people in your life have died young. Many were probably overweight and in other ways not taking care of themselves (my ex-husband, now gone, died at 50; he was a smoker as well as being heavy).
All you need to say is, "Do you want to die early? OK, then. Let's get going...."

Tony-
Wow... strike a nerve? OUTSTANDING! I don't know what to say. you said exactly what I've been thinking for years now about American Society. I know that you were talking, for the most part, about peoples motivation with fitness and a healthy lifestyle, but I think it applies very easily to our Society today. People searching for the quickest, easiest way out. it frustrates the hell out of me to see how simple things would be if people would just choose the CORRECT road rather than the Easy one.

but I have to step back from time to time and realize, that the only thing I can really control is me. and I'm not doing the best I could. This is EXACTLY why I bought P90x and why I'm making the commitment to do it YOUR way 100%... I gotta tell ya... it's gonna be HELL. I RARELY eat veggies... I mean... once a week or so... so this is gonna be a BIG change for me. and being the picky eater I am... I'm gonna STRUGGLE. but I'm giving myself no choice. Quitting isn't an option. I've told everyone i'm doing this program... not because I care what they think... but because I want there to be that feeling of "shit they'll give me so much crap if I quit" I hope that wont ever cross my mind... but it's my insurance policy if you will.

Tony I gotta say, I've read through your words, here and on BBN... you are truly one of a kind. You not only are a fountain of knowlege that is open to anyone... but your love of life is communicated in everything you say (written or video taped) and do.

I don't know if you'll actually read this, as I know this is an older post... but

THANK YOU!. I've yet to start P90x... but you've touched my life already. I hope one day I can thank you in person.

in your debt

Funny, everyone agrees with Tony, go figure? YOU ARE IN HIS CHAT!

I think this is just an example of what life is like for old "TH".
He is surrounded by "yes men" and people handing their lives over to him and saying "SAVE ME! I'm not worthy!" It's typical fitness GURU stuff. Look at that disaster SUSAN POWTER! At one time SHE... or HE (whatever it is) was preaching a similar story.

My husband has lost 73 lbs on the P90X program, HOWEVER- he has also lost AT LEAST 200 hours of quality time he could be spending with me and his two beautiful daughters.
Tony Horton's programs encourage SELFISHNESS and they are directed at those of you with ZERO sense of MODERATION!

I have competed in 7 triathlons and I run on a daily basis, I eat well, but I am not consumed by my "fitness" THAT IS NOT WHAT LIFE IS ABOUT!

Life is about LOVING and ENJOYING people and PLACES- not your reflection!!

Try looking within yourselves first before

Don't apologize for the truth. I printed it off and gave it to every naysayer I came in contact with for the last two days.

I been on a plateau for over a year and started your “free” program. I already lost 4 1/2 lbs in the last couple of days and on our group run this morning, totally rocked out there at 5:00 a.m.

PS I've been a "lifetime" member to Weight Watchers for 20 years and just couldn't get the last 10 lbs off even tho I run marathons, bike century rides, practice yoga, attend spin class's (7 days a week advent exerciser). THANKS AGAIN. This has helped me than you will ever know. Willpower baby!!!! I finally got it!!!!!!!!!!

Way to go Tony!

To the stupid bitch who was going on and on about "balancing" her life and being at "peace" with her image or whatever and having beer and pizza and cake....You are the worst kind of person. You make excuses for your lack of dedication to something and encourage others to do the same. For real, people who are fit are happier than the cake-chomping over-indulgers ANY DAY. Maybe your attitude would change if you broke your in-grained notions that "happiness" is only achievable if one doesn't work too hard for something. Grow some self-respect and don't you dare to talk down to those with more willpower than you.

Amen Tony, amen.

Like a lot of the other people who have left you comments, thank you for posting this rant. I know that I'm commenting years later, but I'm just ending my recovery week and was feeling somewhat discouraged. Reading what you had to say up above really put things into perspective for me and reminded me of WHY I got p90x in the first place.

So thank you. Thank you so much for making the workouts fun, engaging, and above all else, hard!

Do you want fear the walking dead putlocker free? The most interesting facet of this series was to show in detail the dawn of the apocalypse, and instead you get a family drama in the suburbs for an entire first season (later, for 5 episodes and counting, on a boat), which is itself badly written.

This show is cringe-worthy to watch, the writing is THAT bad, and I can't help wondering who the writers are and how they got to write for this show. These writers have no grasp on the psychology of men. It's quite pathetic. See more: The Mummy 2017 Rating very great!
